🇨🇭 Inspired by long walks, trees, and clouds, Costals is the character created by the author Henry de Montherlant for his tetralogy "Les Jeunes Filles". By using this name, the artist puts a spotlight on the work of who he considers the best and most honest French author that has been forgotten.
Much influenced by the label Ninja Tune, as the artist appreciation went from trance to hip hop, you can expect a truly unique style and some of the most fascinating mix of sounds.
His first official project was self-released "Mouvement du Sentiment" in January 2017 under the name of Gelivan, an album crafted from material accumulated since 2013. Also as Gelivan, in October 2017, he released the collaborative 'Rodalquilar Sessions' EP with Belgian rapper/singer Pierre Citron. He worked on the music and also lyrics and vocals on two of the four songs. That was the first release of the swiss label Diffract Records.
September 2019 sees the release of 'Oxygène', the first single under the new name Costals. In January 2020, he launched his own label called Kamînar, from the Spanish word 'caminar' meaning to walk, to wander, to travel, to move forward. Through this project, there is also the intention to publish travel essays and stories, to offer emerging artists creative retreats as well as coaching in creativity and music business. 2019 marks also 10 years of his mix-serie 'Eclectic Soul' which is still going on with more than 60 quality DJ sets.
Since then, Costals has been multiplying very intersting projects like his '1 Day, 1 Song' which started in June 2020. After 30 years in Geneva (Switzerland), he moved to Bristol in 2020 and plans to change countries about every six months to immerse himself in new cultures and to collaborate with local artists from different backgrounds.
